ABOUT THE IMAGE: "We now have Bandmaster Goofy!" announces Mickey Mouse to his live radio audience. "And his fifty-piece band!" chimes in Goofy. This 1937 short is a parody of "amateur hour" radio shows of the time, and it stars a cast of beloved Disney characters as they attempt to impress Mickey with their various performances. Goofy takes the stage with a clumsy contraption which he constructed to allow him to play fifty different instruments on stage as a one-man-band! This image of Goofy depicts him tangled in his machine as he plays his trumpet, a moment which can be found at about the 6:23 mark of the short. This fantastic, full-figure image of the costumed Goofy and a few pieces of his machine measures 5.5" x 6.25". The drawing is created with graphite with red pencil notes on 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper. The paper is marked in its lower right corner with 161.
ABOUT THE MEDIUM: Original Production Drawings are one-of-a-kind pieces of art that were used in the creation of an animated film or television show. Each has been hand-drawn by a studio artist.
